Bourjois mascara

I am always on the hunt for a great volumising mascara because I believe that if you are going to wear mascara you might as well go all out and wear something which thickens and lengthens the lashes and I adore the dramatic false lash look for nights out. I have to wear natural make up at work and so it is important for me that my lashes look dark and thickened so that I don't look tired or washed out.

Bourjois Volumizer mascara £10.49

I was recommended Bourjois Volumizer by a friend who said that the two step wand with this mascara created length and then volume with dramatic results and she was not wrong! The results are very impressive and similar to the look I get from more expensive mascaras such as YSL faux cils, Lancome Hypnose drama or Dior extase. At £10.49 this is not the cheapest drugstore mascara however compared to my favourite high end mascaras which are £20 and over, it is a real bargain. The step 1 wand lengthens and colours every lash, gently separating to creating the perfect base. The step 2 wand is full of product and instantly adds a deep black colour to the lashes and builds volume with each stroke. If you don't like your lashes to look thick and slightly clumpy then you will not like this mascara! If like me you want dramatic lashes that rival falsies and don't mind your lashes being coated with product then buy it! The best thing about this mascara is it does what it promises...... which takes me onto the next Bourjois mascara which unfortunately doesn't live up to its name!

Bourjois Volume Glamour Max mascara £9.49

I was sent the Bourjois Volume Glamour Max mascara after meeting the team at the Handpicked Media blogging event and couldn't wait to try it after they told me that it rivalled the Volumizer in terms of volume and length and held for 16 hours. So when I tried the mascara myself I couldn't help but feel a little disappointed. The brush itself is quite large and the rounded shape was difficult to use, especially on the bottom lashes. The effect itself was slightly more volume and length but the colour wasn't as dark as the Volumizer mascara and for me the finish was more of a daytime look. The biggest let down was the fact that I ended up with alot of fall down during the day and was very dark under the eyes by the end of my shift which has never occured with the Volumizer. It is a shame because I prefer the packaging of this mascara, it looks classy and glamorous but just does not rival the Volumizer and its amazing two step wand process.

I will be purchasing some more Bourjois products in the future because I generally enjoy using them and find that some of the products rival high end cosmetics. I will definitely repurchase the Volumizer mascara but unfortunately Glamour volume max didn't perform for me. Perhaps the waterproof version would be better for avoiding fall down however the brush is the same which I just couldn't get on with.

Do you own any Bourjois mascaras? What is your favourite?

  5. I've been wanting to purchase a two step mascara for awhile, but you can't exactly try them out before buying, so its at your own risk! This one really does seem up my street, though. Either this or Rimmels Glam'Eyes Day 2 Night Mascara. Decisions, decisions!

Laura - yes i will try and do some before and afters soon! You can see the effect of the mascara on my "festive fotd" post if you wanted to check that out too :)

Lucee - my best friend swears by rimmel day 2 night and from what she has told me it seems like exactly the same concept so could be worth trying it out first as it is cheaper but i cannot fault this bourjois one!
